I missed Alchemy.
I couldn’t get it running on my machine anymore, so one day I thought: what if I design it and let AI build something like it? I did, with Claude Code, and put in the things I actually wanted.
The whole point is that starting to draw should be incredibly easy. Almost zero friction.
A lot of art block isn’t about ideas. It’s about the steps between you and the canvas, opening Photoshop, setting up a file, all the small friction before the first line. LassoPaint skips that. And since I was building it anyway, I added a few toys and creativity starters, so it stays light but still gives you something to chew on.
It’s made for artists who already know their way around drawing software. But it also works as a gentle first step into digital art, it’s free and it has the basics you need to begin.
Draw a closed shape and it fills instantly. The fastest way to block a silhouette.
An angled elliptical nib that thickens and thins as you move, with pen-pressure sizing.
Stack pixel layers, rearrange them, mirror and flip the whole canvas with one key.
Roll three random emojis into a character. Lock the ones you like, reroll the rest, flip on Anthro for animal-people.
Pull a one-line creative brief: genre, protagonist, trait, prop, situation. Pin it while you draw.
White, dark, grid, dots, ruled, isometric and perspective backgrounds to sketch on.
Save a PNG when you’re done, or keep a .json you can reopen and keep working on.
Full tools on desktop and iPad. A streamlined touch layout on phone. Nothing to install.
At work, the pressure to use AI kept growing. At first it hit hard, emotionally, seeing just how powerful these tools are.
I decided that if I don’t learn to lead this now, someone else will decide how it reshapes my work.
That became Still You, a way of thinking about using AI without losing your essence in the process. LassoPaint is that philosophy turned into a tool.
It isn’t here to do the work for you. It’s here to unblock the artist, push your imagination, and help you make more art, not less of you.
